The visionary and proactive Governor of Ekiti State John Kayode Fayemi and his 47-man Covid19 crisis team has made the state to become a benchmark and a reference point for other states in the management of covid-19 pandemic and other diseases in Nigeria.
The swift lockdown of the state by the governor before the federal government’s announcement of total lockdown in Nigeria also helped in curtailing the spread of the pandemic in the state.
Although many rape cases and violence against women were recorded during the lockdown, the situation has led the First Lady of the state Erelu Fayemi to build a “Moremi Clinic” which is currently serving as a sexual assault referral center in the state.
