Rising Stars Africa Promotions (RSAP), managers of former WBO world super bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe, has urged the American Embassy in Accra to disregard letters from visa applicants purported to be coming from the RSAP.
Paul Dogboe, father of the boxer and member of the RSAP team told the Times Sports yesterday that the syndicate has information about fans applying for visas to watch the fight in the USA with fake letters.
He also stated that the RSAP has no idea about the existence of any group christened ‘Isaac Dogboe Fun Club’ and urged the embassy to critically scrutinise any application in connection with the fight.
The fight, scheduled for Tuscon, Arizona on May 11 is a rematch between the former champion, Dogboe and the new champion, Emmanuel Navarette from Mexico.
Navarette handed Dogboe his first professional defeat in 2018 with a convincing unanimous points decision and will mount the ring again in an attempt to snatch his title back.
That, Paul agreed, was a huge task and required the support of all including the fans but indicated it was proper things were done the right way.
“We don’t want to leave doubts in the minds of people about the entire process. The fans can go and apply for visas individually to go and support us. We (RSAP) have not issued any letter to any individual or group. Any such letter purported to be coming from us is fake.”
“The US Embassy should take note. We have not given out letters to any group or individuals. We have not sanctioned any group as Isaac Dogboe Fan Club,” he said.
