The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced that it will introduce a daily quota and ticketing system among other measures to ease congestion at SIM card registration centres.
Hundreds of people have continued to be in long queues at the various telecommunication centres to have their SIM cards re-registered through biometric verification. This comes after the government’s directive for all SIM cards to be re-registered within a period of six months (from October 2021 to March 2022) using the Ghana Card.
To address the frustrations and inconvenience of customers at the centres, the NCA said it is working “assiduously with mobile network operators and the SIM card registration application developer to improve the registration process and mitigate the current challenges.”
In a statement, the NCA said more registration outlets would be opened at vantage points to ensure a smooth exercise.
