Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has received the FIFA Puskas Award for 2018 for scoring the best goal.
The Liverpool striker was presented with the award for the best goal scored between July 2017 and July 2018 during The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony, on Monday, in London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Mo Salah’s effort in the Merseyside derby, in which his curling, left-footed strike sent the ball to the top corner in a match against Everton was judged to come out on top.
Gareth Bale’s overhead kick against Liverpool in the Champions League final was also a contender for the award, along with Cristiano Ronaldo’s similarly acrobatic effort against his now current club Juventus.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Modric ousted former teammate Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah on the final three-man shortlist to win the FIFA Best Award, after beating the same pair to win UEFA’s Men’s Player of the Year award for the 2017-18 season.
