Joselyn Dumas and her foundation “THE JOSELYN CANFOR-DUMAS FOUNDATION” (JCD Foundation) on Friday 18th May 2018 Officially handed-over installed and fully functional CCTV Cameras to the Children’s/Pediatric Block of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. On New Year’s Day, Monday 1st January 2018, Joselyn along with the JCD Foundation and family organized a fun-filled party in collaboration with Think Mahogany Events by Debra Jane for the Children’s/Pediatric Block. The purpose of the party was to bring the cheers of the festive celebrations to the hospitalized children and their families whom spent the day with them as well as commence the New Year with them with optimism.
Before her departure, Actress, Tv and Radio Host Joselyn Dumas in a conversation asked the nurses on duty what specific needs they had which she could help with in aid of improving their working environment and care service provision for the children and their families in the block. The Head of Nurses, Madam Agnes expressed a great concern for the general protection of the unit, suggesting the need of a better security system for the protection of all persons on the wards as there have been numerous reports on theft crime and she felt this could be reduced significantly if not completely if CCTV Cameras were installed.
The JCD Foundation has successfully installed Security CCTV Cameras and Servers at specific vantage points in and out of the block, protecting their safety. Professor Lorna Reney, officially received the Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation’s donation on behalf of hospital management on Friday 18th May 2018 and expressed how invaluable their contribution is to the hospital as it will deter baby/child theft and nurse and baby/child-mother’s malpractices in the block as well as tighten their security, contributing to an improved service provision.
Joselyn, who has undertaken the cost of many surgeries for children expressed her love for children and vowed to do everything possible to ease the discomfort of children on the block as well as those underprivileged around the country. Joselyn has encouraged everyone to get involved no matter how small, just as the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo said “we shouldn’t be spectators but citizens”. Therefore, she believes it takes a collective effort from all of us to support the less privileged in our society especially children. The Actress therefore appealed to the public and all Ghanaians to help in every little way possible.
The Joselyn Canfor-Dumas Foundation, among many other charities, continues to finance the education of smart but underprivileged children around the country. They also spearheaded the widely known #Xcholera, an effective campaign organized to eradicate Cholera in Ghana a few years ago.
