A gas station at Atomic Junction in Accra caught in flames last Saturday 7th October 2017 and netbuzzafrica.com gathered that the gas station, located close to a Total fuel station at Atomic First, exploded before the fuel station later caught fire.Bjrlive FM sources who were on the scene reported that “ the fire, at first sight, is terrifying.”
“The fire at the Mansco Gas Filling station is intense and the explosion is horrifying”
“The residual gas in the container is burning with sounds of explosion. The whole area has been surrounded by the police. No vehicle is being allowed to the scene and people are fleeing the scene.”
“There are quite a number of firefighters who are trying to keep the fire stable but students from the University of Ghana campus are running for their lives.”
“The explosion shook the Pentagon hall and it appears that the gas glared into the atmosphere.”At my villa around Dome – Pillar two before I visited the scene, I could also see the raging fire explosion from a distance.
“When I got to the scene, everyone was trying to find the next space to survive, there was fire everywhere but the Fire Service at the scene were trying to douse the fire.”
Many residents in the area at Haatso, Madina, and the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) area abandoned their homes to safety.
It started raining heavily after the explosion and roads around the area have been blocked.
Ambulances moved to the area and some people were seen being ferried to the hospital.
