The 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is slated for 14th of April 2018 at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) with Sarkodie, Joe Mettle and the late Ebony Reigns having earned the most nominations this year.
At a colourful ceremony at the Movenpick Ambassador hotel Saturday night on March 3, the organisers of the award finally revealed the artistes who have been nominated and it emerged that Africa’s most decorated rapper Sarkodie leads the way with eight nominations followed by Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle, who managed to grab seven nominations and controversial dancehall artiste Shatta Wale who has been away from the awards since 2014, made a big return with six nominations.
Other names include dancehall artiste of the year Stonebwoy and the late Ebony Reigns who picked six nominations each. King Promise and Kuami Eugene grabbed five nominations each while Kumi Guitar and Samini also managed four nominations.
While many were fixed on Joselyn Dumas hosting the forthcoming VGMAs, Starr Drive’s co-host Berla Mundi and actor John Dumelo have been named as host for this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).
Berla Mundi who’s not new to the VGMA terrain will be supported by actor John Dumelo who’s making a debut although industry watchers have expressed optimism he will gel with the host of The Late Afternoon Show on GhOne TV.
Organized by Charterhouse, the VGMA is scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre this weekend.
