Hon Catherine Ablema Afeku made this declaration on Sunday 4th January 2018 during the launch of Agya Koo TV at the Accra Mall.
In an interview with Attractivemustapha, Hon Catherine Afeku explained that Apps for artistes such as Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Jackie Appiah, Lil Win and others are in the pipeline but Agya Koo has been chosen as number one because a scientific survey conducted by the ministry which considered both online and stratified sampling in their research methodology indicates that he is the topmost local content brand.
When interjected that John Dumelo has the largest number of followers online, the Minister insisted that Agya Koo is more popular than John Dumelo because people in the rural areas know Agya Koo but do not know John Dumelo.
“Agya Koo is more popular, when you go to my constituency, the people in the rural areas know Agya Koo but when you mention John Dumelo, they don’t know him”, Hon Catherine told Ghanaian celebrity Journalist Attractive mustapha(Mustapha Nii Okai Inusah).
Prior to the launch of the Agya Koo TV App, the minister announced at a press conference that as an initiative of the Ministry, it is partnering a private entity to project creative artists and their works but she received a huge backlash from the public because people claimed it is a misplaced priority.
