Dancehall artiste, Samini believes we deserve 70% of Ghanaian songs on airwaves.
According to the ace musician, legislators in the country should enact laws that will demand that at least 70% of contents that are played on the airwaves are of Ghanaian origin.
The demand was made after Nigerian musicians dominated at the 2017 Aiteo CAF Awards at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra.
Similar demands were made by fellow Ghanaian musicians, Shatta Wale and Pope Skinny when they advised Disc Jockeys to forgo endorsing Nigerian songs on bigger platforms to promote the Ghanaian Music Industry.
Samini has ignited the campaign by pleading with lawmakers in the country to push the music industry up the ladder by playing 70% of Ghanaian content on the airwaves.
He further stressed that there should be an equal share of performance time on any international platform mounted on the Ghanaian soil.
With these measures, the ‘My Own’ hitmaker believes it will aid musicians to sell their craft unto the international market.
See the tweet below:
I am starting a campaign today and I hope it gets to the LAW makers .Ghanaians want 70 percent of local content on our airwaves and 50:50 share of performance time on any international platform mounted here on our soil. This is to help us also sell to the world “ourown”craft????????
