The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah has snatched ballot papers during the Speaker of Parliament election in Ghana on Thursday morning.
The MP and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) did the unexpected while count for the ballot papers for the election of the Speaker of Parliament was ongoing and attempted to bolt with it.
The former deputy Trade and Industry Minister who ran to the table during counting to snatch the ballots of Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye was chased and accosted at the entrance of the parliamentary chamber when he attempted to bolt with it.
He physically challenged by some NDC MPs including the Chief Whip of the NDC, MP for Asawase, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak who later secured the ballots papers which were returned to the table.
When Tema West MP-elect, Carlos Ahenkorah attempted to escape with some of the ballots which were cast.

This was after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament began celebrating what they expected to be a victory in their favour.
Earlier, reports of chaos and petty riots erupted in Ghana’s parliament while decisions were still be made on how the Speaker of Parliament’s voting process should be handle. It took the Military’s intervention to restore calm to the house.
There have been no casualties recorded so far.
