Kanye West has met with Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni during a visit to the East African nation.
Mr West gave the 74-year-old leader a pair of white sneakers.
President Yoweri Museveni in recognizing Mr and West’s visit says he and the American rapper held “fruitful discussions” about promoting tourism and arts.
West and his wife Kim Kardashian have been vacationing in a national park in Uganda. He is said to be recording music in a tent.
A hoodie-wearing Kanye West met Museveni at the State House on Monday and exchanged gifts.
Excited tourism officials see the visit as an endorsement of the country’s tourism potential and they look forward to receiving visitors soon.
While Kanye gifted a pair of shoes to the President, in in return, he handed them a copy of his book, Sowing the Mustard Seed.”
“I held fruitful discussions with the duo on how to promote Uganda’s tourism and the arts.”
“I thank Kanye for the gift of white sneakers. Enjoy your time in Uganda. It is the true Pearl of Africa,” the president said.
Also present at the Entebbe meeting was First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as well as other members of the First Family.
Kanye arrived in Uganda last week along with his wife Kim Kadarshian and rapper Big Sean.
These are camping at the Chobe Safari Lodge in Western Uganda, where they are shooting videos for the rapper’s latest studio album Yandhi.
