Kiki Banson sues Afia Schwarzenegger for defamation, demands GHC 1m

Kiki Banson has filed a lawsuit against popular media personality and comedian, Afia Schwarzenegger born Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.

In a writ filed at an Accra High Court, Afia is being sued for defaming Kiki Banson and Palm Media, and is being charged to pay GHC 1 million in damages.

According to the report, the suit surrounds a collaboration deal between Afia and Kiki for the Girl Talk concert this year, under the auspices of Palm Media.

It emerged that the deal featured a GHC 10,000 sponsorship fund from the CEO of the Endpoint Homeopathic Clinic to support the collaboration. However, Kiki Banson has alleged that the money was taken from him by Afia Schwarzenegger, who then publicly offended him.

The suit is demanding for the TV host to retract her statements and compensate the plaintiff (Kiki) for his damaged reputation according to GhanaCelebrities dot com.

Earlier reports suggested that Afia has also sued Multimedia group and the Nima Police Command for her alleged fraud arrest. This report was confirmed by Nima District Police Commander, Superintendent Paul Bampo to Adom FM Presenter, Mike 2 on Thursday.

A writ dated 11th August 2017, filed by Nkrabea and Associates on behalf of their client, Afia Schwarzenegger states all that report in the media and the confirmation by the police are lies and that she never got arrested by the police. The writ further demanded GH¢150, 000 as compensation from the defendants for defaming her.

Although the Nima District Police Commander, Superintendent Paul Bampo insists Afia Schwarzenegger is under investigations for defrauding Kiki Banson, Afia believes this is a calculated attempted to defame her, hence her decision to take legal action.

Afia explained that, she together with Kiki Banson planned for an all-female comedy show which needed sponsorship. The boss of End Point Homeopathy Clinic offered to help them with GH¢10,000. He gave the money to Afia who subsequently gave the money to Kiki Benson to help with the preparation. Unfortunately, the program could come not off and Afia went with his husband to take back the money because according to her, the Boss of End Point Homeopathy Clinic gave the money to “her” to use as she pleases.Her legal counsel is said to be demanding GHC 150,000 in damages for her soiled image, although these reports are not yet confirmed.
