Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah has once again shared her birthday with the kids at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital by donating a newly renovated daycare centre for children with sickle cell.
Jackie, 37, celebrated her birthday on Saturday 5th December 2020.
While visiting the hospital has become a habit, this year she decided to celebrate it differently by refurbished the Children’s Ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital as a birthday gift for children with sickle cell.
Among many activities carried out by the Jackie Appiah Foundation, the actress who rehabilitated the ward for children with sickle cell receiving temporary care also had the unit named “Jackie’s Corner.”
Jackie who lost a dear friend to sickle cell anaemia in 2019 decided to save the world differently while she can.
“Sometime last year my friend Jo-Anne Badu lost her life to sickle cell anaemia. It, therefore, touched my heart and also inspired me to embark on a project to refurbish one of the pediatric wards into a fun vibrant daycare center,” Jackie Appiah narrated. Watch the video below.
