In line with its agenda of making Enugu North Senatorial Zone the industrial hub of the South-East, the Igbo Nsukka United Front, INUF, is organising the first ever Igbo-Nsukka economic summit on November 16, 2020 to coincide with the 116th posthumous birthday of Rt. Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe, the Great Zik of Africa.
The National Executive Committee of INUF made this known in a statement on Saturday, stressing that the summit holding at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, will bring together, the best brains within and outside the Igbo Nsukka geo-cultural zone to chart a new course for the development of Igbo Nsukka.
16th of November is a very significant date in the anals of Igbo-Nsukka as it marks the birthday of Zik whose birth and lifetime signify the beginning of modern development of Igbo-Nsukka geo-cultural zone by the singular act of founding the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
According to the statement signed by Chineme Onyeke, “It is in honour of the Great Zik of Africa, Owelle of Onitsha that we, in IGBO NSUKKA UNITED FRONT, a Sociocultural Organisation that seeks to continue the developmental strides started in Igbo-Nsukka by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe decided to host THE FIRST IGBO NSUKKA ECONOMIC SUMMIT”.
The summit which centres on the quest for the industrialization of Igbo-Nsukka cultural zone; potentials, prospects and challenges, seeks to find lasting solutions to the developmental challenges of Igbo- Nsukka and set Igbo-Nsukka up to become the Agricultural and Technological Hub of the entire South East.
“We therefore call on all Igbo -Nsukka sons and daughters, Stakeholders, Professionals, Development Experts, Technocrats, Communication Agencies and members of the Press to join us as we chart a new course for a Greater IGBO NSUKKA,” he said.
