CAF Vice President and the current President of Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has tied the knot with his longtime sweetheart Mariam Nyantakyi.
The private ceremony last weekend saw the attendance of family members and close friends at a location in Accra where Mariam and Kwesi exchanged their vows to live together.
Nyantakyi, a Muslim, has been active in all practice and conventions with Islam including observing fast.
Although Mr Nyantakyi kept the whole ceremony out of public eye, some of the guests including happy friends of Mariam took to social media to share their excitement for their beloved friend.
Mariam Nyantakyi, now the second wife of GFA President was looking good-ready for her Islamic marriage in a yellow dress with red necklace and beads.
Many thought Mr Nyantakyi was a Christian until he stunned many Ghanaians by swearing with a Qur’an when he appeared before a presidential commission set up to investigate Ghana’s disastrous World Cup campaign in 2014.
The action was met with suspicion, with some commentators saying that Mr Nyantakyi had lied to the commission about his religion. However, at a recent meeting with Muslim football administrators and sports journalists, he said he used to be a Christian but had converted to Islam at age five when his mother got married to another man who was a Muslim.
