Donald Trump Reiterates Plan to End Birthright Citizenship and Reshape Immigration Policies
Donald Trump has pledged to terminate birthright citizenship, a policy granting automatic citizenship to individuals born in the U.S., even if their parents are undocumented. Despite being constitutionally protected, Trump argues this right has been overused and requires amendment.
In an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump confirmed his intention to prioritize deportation of undocumented immigrants, starting with those involved in criminal activities, though he did not specify the offenses. He described the decision as necessary to uphold fairness, particularly for immigrants waiting years to enter legally.
When asked about the status of children brought to the U.S. illegally, Trump hinted at collaborating with Congress for a possible resolution, saying, “I want to work something out.”
On Global Affairs
Trump also urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to seize the opportunity to resolve the war in Ukraine. He called for an “immediate ceasefire,” adding that both Ukraine and Putin appeared willing to negotiate. Trump emphasized China’s potential role in facilitating peace, stating, “The world is waiting!”
Regarding NATO, Trump reiterated his stance that member nations must meet their financial obligations. While he would remain committed to NATO under fair conditions, he did not rule out withdrawing if those standards were not met.
