Beyoncé performed for throngs of screaming fans Saturday night at Coachella after a year’s wait.
She made history as the first black woman to headline Coachella in a performance that included a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion and appearances by her husband Jay-Z and sister Solange.
Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her as they sang their smash Say My Name during the two-hour set in Indio, California, where the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is held each year.
The highly anticipated set drew thousands of revelers 12 months after Beyonce postponed her appearance at the festival because she was pregnant with her twins, Sir and Rumi.
The R&B singer opened with her 2003 hit Crazy in Love in a show that also included songs from her 2016 visual album Lemonade.
She paid tribute to the marching bands, dance troupes and step teams at historically black colleges and universities during her set.
She also performed Lift Every Voice and Sing — which is widely known as the “black national anthem”.
At one point, DJ Khaled even came over the speakers to announce: “After tonight, Coachella gotta rename Coachella the Beychella. New name alert: Beychella!”
Meanwhile, Beyoncé and Jay-Z will kick off their joint tour this summer.
