Sky Train Scandal: Ayine Vows Accountability Over GIIF $2M Loss
Attorney General Dominic Ayine Speaks on $2M Sky Train Payment Controversy
The Sky Train project was initially introduced as a bold solution to Accra’s traffic congestion. The idea of a modern, efficient transportation system garnered widespread support.
However in a recent address, Attorney General Dominic Akuritinga Ayine shed light on the growing controversy surrounding the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund’s (GIIF) $2 million payment for the Accra Sky Train project. The payment, allegedly made to a nonexistent company traced to Mauritius, has stirred public concern, especially with reports that the former GIIF CEO responsible for the transaction is now believed to be in hiding in Senegal.
The Search for Accountability
The Attorney General disclosed that his office is working closely with international authorities to track the former CEO. While the individual’s current location is believed to be Senegal, Ayine expressed confidence in legal measures that would ensure his return to face questioning and accountability.
He assured the public that the government is also exploring avenues to recover the misappropriated funds.
While Ghanaians await further updates, the Attorney General’s remarks serve as a reminder of the government’s commitment to upholding transparency and ensuring that justice prevails.
