As the day draws closer to the grand unveiling of the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominees on Saturday, March 3, many music enthusiasts are eager to see who makes the cut in this year’s edition. Many others are also interested to know whether or not the newest Zylofon Media signee, Shatta Wale will make a comeback.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, known in showbiz as Shatta Wale has been away from the VGMAs for a while now due to a standoff with the organisers and his comeback is something many are curious about.
Media General, the official media partner of the 2018 VGMA has been gleaning for information to satisfy the curiosity of its cherished audience. We have spoken to those who matter in the matter and the scoop in our hands indicates that Shatta Wale has a chance in this year’s VGMAS.
The PRO of Charter House, George Quaye tells TV3’s Owusu Worae “What I can tell you for sure is that this year his [Shatta Wale] nominations were entered by his team and it was accepted by the VGMA team on behalf of the board and I’m sure the board has done all its sitting”.
“As to whether or not he entered, yes, he entered, as to whether or not his nominations were accepted, yes, they were accepted” he added.
As promising as his statement may sound, it may not necessarily guarantee Shatte Wale’s nomination considering that he filed for nominations in 2016 which were accepted but he was not nominated. History may or may not repeat itself.
Perhaps, the readiness of the Dancehall king in recent times to reconcile with Charter House is what is going to make the difference and turn things around. He is quoted as saying on a television talk show that “I’m ready any time if called upon to resolves issues with Charterhouse to make Ghanaians happy”.
“I have apologised severally on many platforms and registered my readiness to smoke the peace pipe with the event planning firm over the years, so I honestly don’t know how else to put it again”, he added.
Shatta Wale has more recently put himself up above Ebony as the ultimate winner of the VGMA if he is given the opportunity, an indication that he is ready for the VGMA. In a radio interview, he said “Ebony go fit win artist of the year only if I no dey inside. If I dey inside, I go win am”.
The question, however, remains: Is Shatta Wale back to the VGMAs?
