Properties connected to rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs were raided on Monday by federal agents.
Representatives for the hip-hop mogul did not respond to inquiries from the Netbuzz Africa on Monday.
Recent lawsuits have surfaced accusing Mr. Combs of sexual misconduct, all of which have been denied by his attorneys. These allegations may have contributed to the heightened scrutiny.
In Los Angeles, Homeland Security Investigations agents targeted a sprawling 17,000 square foot mansion where Mr. Combs previously announced his latest album release. The mansion, located in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood, is linked to Mr. Combs’ Bad Boy Films production company and is surrounded by celebrity residences.
According to two law enforcement officials speaking to the Associated Press, the raids are part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation.
Last year, R&B singer Cassie, formerly in a relationship with Mr. Combs, filed a lawsuit alleging years of abuse. Although she settled the lawsuit later, two other women came forward with similar allegations. Additionally, a man accused Mr. Combs of sexual misconduct.
Douglas Wigdor, the attorney representing Cassie and another alleged victim, expressed support for the law enforcement efforts. He hopes the investigation will hold Mr. Combs accountable for his actions.
Despite the controversy, Mr. Combs remains a significant figure in hip-hop. He is the founder of Bad Boy Records and has collaborated with notable artists such as Usher and Mary J Blige, earning him three Grammy Awards over the years.
