A driver of a white Honda saloon vehicle with registration number GE-778-20, has been arrested for allegedly stealing five sheep at White Cross, near New Weija in the Weija- Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the driver with his two accomplices broke into a nearby house where the sheep are reared and stole the five from their pen on the dawn of Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
The eyewitness narrated further that the operation ended in a disaster after a security guard from a nearby company raised an alarm causing residents to respond to the situation.
The residents in an attempt to stop the criminals, pelted the vehicle being used by the thieves with stones causing the driver to ram the car into a wall.
The residents later apprehended the driver while the two accomplices took to their heels.
He is currently in the custody of the New Weija Police assisting with investigations.
The owner of the sheep revealed that this is not the first time his animals have been stolen, adding that on November 8, 2021, thieves broke into his house and made away with three sheep.
He continued that, the thieves have been his source of worry since they keep ransacking his house to steal his animals.
Meanwhile, he said he was able to retrieve three of the sheep as the police took two with them as exhibits.
