Reports reaching netbuzzafrica.com indicate TV Africa is cash-strapped and could soon be suspending major programs in the coming weeks.Top most of the issues is the rumour that Afia Schwarzenegger’s comedy show, ‘Political Police’ has been taken off air with immediate effect.
The ‘Political Police’ show, which is aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8pm has courted series of controversies as the hostess Afia Schwarzenegger minces no words in attacking decision makers and celebrities. Though her clamant-loud-self on air isn’t the cause for the program’s suspension, the cash-strap media house is yet to officially announce its reasons.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news, the controversial Afia Schwarzenegger has debunked rumours that her show among others on TV Africa has been scrapped off air.
“Political police hasn’t been suspended..pls disregard those lies circulating on social media and pls dnt pay attention to lazy bloggers!!” she said via an Instagram post.
TV Africa is struggling to raise funds to pay salaries after the station’s massive comeback and re-branding. We cannot state the future of the programs aired on the TV station with the departure of their 6-month-CEO, Shirley Frimpong Manso. among 5 other managers who were employed after the re-branding.
The re-branding process brought on board Ghanaian politician and journalist, Obuobia Darko Opoku, actress Nikki Samonas and Khadijat El- Alawa as morning show hosts.
Obuobia Darko-Opoku who was made the General Manager of the company after the departure of popular filmmaker Shirley Frimpong Manso resigned just under a week of accepting the post, NetbuzzAfrica.com understands.
About two years ago, a private financial holding company, the Ideal Groupe, acquired a majority share in TV Africa after 13 years of operation from the old Kwaw Ansah’s management.
