Dr. Bawumia and his team paid a visit to the Western Naval Command at Sekondi Thursday 15, February 2018 “to understand at first hand, the issues surrounding illegal bunkering and the smuggling of petroleum products into the country by sea”.This follows a ‘surprise’ visit to the Lands Registry Tuesday February 13 to observe the current process of land registration as it is in the country to assist him in efforts to bring significant changes to the commission and facilitate the digital integration of the land acquisition process.Giving the rationale behind Thursday’s visit as part of government efforts to “crack down on illegal activities” in the sector, Dr. Bawumia noted the Ghana Navy’s significant role in curbing the menace of illegal smuggling of petroleum products at the port.Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area and his Kinsmen briefed the Vice President during the tour about issues on the ground. –
