Having won big at the 2013 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Ghanaian controversial dancehall star, Shatta Wale, has lost out on subsequent awards, regardless of how consistent and relevant his hit songs have been trending on the continent in the last four years – netbuzzafrica.com can confirm.
Shatta Wale has been missing in action for a very-very long time! The ‘Ayo’ hitmaker, Shatta Wale, who started processing his nominations in 2017 will be tasting some victories this year as he returns to the 19th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with a bang!
For the first time in several years, Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has been nominated for the VGMAs awards.
The Zylofon Music signed act has been nominated in these categories: Hiplife Song of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year and Song of the Year. He will also compete for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and also battle for the Artiste Of the Year award.
Shatta Wale’s no-show at the Awards has been due to some unsolved disagreements that exist between the artist and the organizers, a situation that ended up in court and ensured that the artist was booted out of the scheme but from the look of four nominations, we believe all is well between both parties although less has been said about their court case.
Coming back to a stiff competition, Shatta Wale will have to beat competitors like Fancy Gadam, Wutah, Bronya, Nancee, Sarkodie, Captain Planet, Patapaa, MzVee, Stonebwoy, Ebony, Joe Mettle, Becca, Kurl Songx, Samini, Article Wan and singer Efya to win any trophy in the categories he has been nominated in.
