Sarkodie nominated for 2017 MOBO awardsMultiple award-winning musician, Sarkodie has opened up on what he plans on doing this year as his contribution to the growth and development of the country.

He said he is motivated by his past and challenges he had to succumb to get to his current status to put up the right structures and facilitate the growth and development of the youth coming after him.

Sarkodie detailed that the plan was still being discussed with the Communications Ministry and other stakeholders to examine various ways that will sustain the project and make it beneficial to most youth.

He made these revelations in a remark during the unveiling of former President Kufuor as Patron of Ghana Job Bank.

“Listening to the president, let me say, I have grown over the years, when I came in initially, obviously we are all kind of frustrated with what we are supposed to do so who do we turn to? The parents and the parents are the government. That has always been my approach but I think growing up and maturing till now, I have realised that we need to take things into our hands. We are actually lucky that it’s not too flooded with people taking all the opportunities, we have more than we can explore” he remarked.

Ghana Job Bank offers recruitment, youth mentoring programmes, internships/ apprenticeship opportunities and nurturing young entrepreneurs to become successful with their business ideas.

Sarkodie was joined by TV personality, Joselyn Dumas at the programme as guests of the event.

Joselyn Dumas who was overwhelmed by the idea of the initiative pledged her support to the programme and expressed her commitment to contributing her quota to the success of the initiative.

Sarkodie disclosed that he was moved by the initiative and words of the former President that he pledged to empower many more people to focus on building themselves and taking advantage of opportunities around them.

He noted that as part of his campaign he was going to create awareness to change the mindset of Ghanaians especially the youth to not place all hope in government or wait for government to create the jobs but strive to be successful entrepreneurs.

He disclosed that “to let out something that people don’t know, my next project is actually targeting the youth and rearranging their mindset to take opportunities into their hands and make something for themselves because you end up doing it for yourself and you make people benefit and that’s Ghana. As a musician, I have gone behind the scenes. I have done music and I have won the awards that I can win. I have been doing that over and over again and I think it’s about that time that I sit back and give back to what made me Sarkodie and that’s music. Hopefully, I will be able to help the new generation who don’t have to go through the same hustle as I did and have a safe platform and do better than Sarkodie or Shatta Wale or anybody else. I promise and pledge today that I’m on that campaign to change the mindset of the youth to start being productive”.
