New Zealand’s critically acclaimed TV series After The Party has been nominated for a British Academy Television Award (BAFTA) in the Best International Series category.
The series, co-created by Robyn Malcolm and written by Dianne Taylor, Sam Shore, Emily Perkins, and Martha Hardy-Ward, was filmed in Wellington, New Zealand.
A Bold Story That Resonates
After The Party follows Penny (Robyn Malcolm) as she accuses her husband, Phil, of a sex crime against her daughter’s teenage friend. The accusation shatters her life, and nobody believes her. Five years later, Phil returns from Scotland and moves in with Penny’s daughter and grandchild, forcing her to relive the trauma.
The series, which debuted on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+, gained critical acclaim in New Zealand before finding international success on the UK’s Channel 4.
Robyn Malcolm Reacts to BAFTA Nomination
Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Malcolm called the nomination “mind-blowing” and a testament to the hard work of the cast and crew.
“Just to get in this category is utterly crazy, mind-blowing, and just plain joyous,” she wrote.
“I’m f’ing proud of all of us.”
She also acknowledged the fierce competition, which includes FX’s Shōgun, starring New Zealand-born actor Anna Sawai.

Before its BAFTA nod, After The Party dominated the New Zealand Television Awards, winning:
