Residents threaten to vote out Haruna Iddrisu

Residents threaten to vote out Haruna IddrisuResidents of Sagnarigu-Dungu in the Tamale south constituency of the Northern region are threatening to vote out their Member of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, for what they say is deliberate neglect and refusal by him to attend to their needs.

The community which is in close proximity to the Dungu Dam gets flooded anytime it rained, due to poor drainage and bad road networks.

Sagnarigu Dungu Electoral area is one of the areas in the Tamale metropolis which lacks social amenities such as potable drinking water, good roads and school infrastructure, among other needs.

Some of the residents who spoke to Adom News said they have had to mobilise themselves to construct hand-dug drains just to prevent their community from flooding.

According to the residents, it’s impossible to get out or even enter the community anytime it rained hence their decision to construct a road bridge as their MP, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has neglected them.

Adom News has also gathered that the contract for the construction of the road leading to the community was part of an initial contract which saw the construction of similar stretches of roads in other parts of the municipality.

According to Haruna Mumuni, Assemblyman for the area, complains and appeals to the MP, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, have all fallen on deaf ears.

With the raining season a few days away, residents of the area are once again, calling on the MP to come to their aid.

The residents who have since been engaged in some communal works to mitigate the flooding should the rains start, have threatened not to vote for the MP in the next general election should he fail to heed their call and address their needs.
