Our divorce process is very emotional, give us privacy - Tony Lithur pleadsCelebrated Legal practitioner and lawyer for ex-president John Mahama who wants a divorce from his wife Nana Oye Lithur has appealed to the public to allow them grieve in peace as the divorce process is very emotional and difficult one for his family.

Mr Tony Lithur has pleaded with the public and media to give his family some privacy in a press released sighted by netbuzzafrica.com.

He is not pleased with the leakage and publication of documents he filed for divorce against Nana Oye Lithur, a former minister and politician.

Though he acknowledges the existence of the filed petition, he also believes the least of it should be shared on social media.

The divorce Petition against Nana Oye Lithur, a former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection [2013 to Jan 2017] was filed on May 2, 2018.

“My attention has been drawn to the publication on social media of the docket copy of a Petition for divorce I have filed against Nana Oye Lithur at the Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the High Court, Accra and some pictures of us,” Mr Lithur said in a press statement dated June 13, 2018 and signed by him.

“While acknowledging the existence of the filed Petition, I would like to say that the process is an emotional and difficult one for us and our children,” Mr Lithur continued.

“I would therefore very respectfully and humbly, ask the general public to kindly give us, our children and loved ones some privacy to deal quietly with this painful stage of our lives,” he wrote.

The docket copy was leaked on social media on Tuesday June 12, 2018 and has generated public discussion following the allegations against Nana Oye Lithur and grounds on which Mr Lithur is asking for the divorce.

Mr Lithur has cited “cruel and violent traits” of his wife as one of the reason for their divorce.

They have four children and have been married for 27 years first under customary on April 14, 1991 and subsequently celebrating the marriage under Ordinance at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra on January 16, 1997.Our divorce process is very emotional, give us privacy - Tony Lithur pleads
