Jetstar Flight Turns Back After Woman Tries to Open Door In Mid-Air
Flight turns back to Bali after passenger tries to open door in mid-air
A Jetstar flight from Bali to Melbourne was dramatically forced to turn back after a passenger attempted to open an aircraft door mid-flight, sending shockwaves through the cabin.
Flight JQ34 departed from Denpasar Airport at approximately 8:40 PM local time on Monday, carrying over 200 passengers. Just an hour into the journey, chaos erupted as an unruly passenger became aggressive with the crew and attempted to force open one of the aircraft’s doors while the plane was cruising over the Indian Ocean.
The alarming incident prompted the flight crew to take swift action, diverting the aircraft back to Denpasar Airport. Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 confirmed the abrupt turnaround. Upon landing, local authorities swiftly arrested the passenger.
In a statement to 9News, Jetstar condemned the passenger’s behavior, emphasizing that such actions pose a serious risk to safety and will never be tolerated.
Passengers on board described the experience as terrifying. Australian radio host Jacqueline Felgate, who was on the flight, shared a video on Instagram detailing the ordeal.
“Absolutely a nightmare. Had to turn around and land back in Bali for her to get arrested. 260 angry and scared passengers. Police escorted her off the plane,” Felgate wrote in her caption.
Reality TV star Brooke Jowett also recounted the unsettling event, revealing that the disruptive passenger had been in a heated argument with crew members about her seat before the situation escalated.
Although aircraft doors are designed to be virtually impossible to open mid-flight due to cabin pressure, incidents like these highlight the challenges airlines face in dealing with disruptive passengers.
Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further as the aviation industry continues to prioritize passenger safety in the skies.
