The suspects, Bismark Odoi (35) and Saviour Arthur (33), reportedly punished the child for being late to school, leaving him chained without food for two days.

Eyewitness Account: A Child Left to Die

James Mensah, a local resident, discovered the boy in distress and reported the case to the police.

“I met the boy in the bush with a chain on his leg. I questioned why, and he said his father had chained him and left him to die. I immediately informed the police,” Mensah told Citi News.

Authorities later confirmed that the parents had gone into hiding after the incident but were eventually apprehended for questioning.

In a heartbreaking account, the boy recounted his experience:

“I was late for school, and my father punished me. He put a chain on my leg and took me to the bush. I was left there for two days, with no food or water.”

The Awutu Bereku Police Command is actively investigating the case, with authorities expected to charge the couple with child endangerment, abuse, and neglect.

Public Outrage & Calls for Justice

The incident has sparked public outrage, with child rights activists condemning the cruel treatment. The Department of Social Welfare has also been alerted to ensure the boy’s well-being.

As the investigation unfolds, Ghanaians are calling for swift justice and tougher penalties against child abuse.
