Former NSB Boss Faces GHS80M Bail, Wife Included

Accra Court Slashes Bail for Ex-NSB Chief Kwabena Adu-Boahene to GHS80M

Former NSB Boss Faces GHS80M Bail, Wife IncludedThe Accra High Court has revised the bail conditions for Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the embattled former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), lowering his bail from GHS120 million to GHS80 million. His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, however, remains on GHS80 million bail, with two sureties required to be justified.

Tight Restrictions Remain in Place

Despite the reduction, the couple remains under strict bail conditions, including:
– Mandatory reporting to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) three times a week
– A travel ban unless explicitly approved by EOCO

The court’s decision comes amid an ongoing EOCO investigation into allegations of embezzlement, fraud, and illicit financial transactions involving millions of Ghanaian cedis.

High-Stakes Corruption Scandal

Adu-Boahene, who served as NSB Director-General from 2017 to February 2025, is accused of diverting state funds into personal accounts during his tenure. The case has sparked national outrage, raising concerns over corruption and financial mismanagement at the NSB, Ghana’s intelligence and security agency.

His wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, is also being investigated for her role in the alleged financial misconduct.

Their lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, expressed optimism that Adu-Boahene would meet the revised bail conditions soon, securing his release from custody.

As the EOCO probe continues, Ghanaians are closely watching this high-profile case, which could have major implications for accountability and anti-corruption efforts in the country.
