A former Indiana teacher accused of engaging in horrific acts of sexual abuse with multiple underage victims now faces 29 felony charges, including child molestation, sexual misconduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Morgan County prosecutors have expanded the case against Brittany Fortinberry, adding 24 new felony counts related to five additional victims. This brings the total number of alleged victims to six.

According to court documents, Fortinberry allegedly forced children to engage in group sexual acts while wearing masks from the horror film franchise “Scream”.

Potential Life Sentence Looms

Morgan County Prosecutor Steven P. Sonnega confirmed that Fortinberry is now facing five Level 1 felony child molestation charges—each carrying a potential 20 to 40-year prison sentence. If served consecutively, a conviction on these charges alone could keep her behind bars for life.

Beyond that, the 24 additional felony charges range from Level 4 to Level 6 offenses, with sentences ranging from two to twelve years per count.

“There are many legal factors that come into play, but a conviction could keep her in prison for the rest of her life,” Sonnega stated.

Fortinberry is set to appear in court on April 3, where she will be formally advised of the new charges and potential penalties.

Meanwhile, the judge has ordered her to stay away from all victims—a condition that is currently enforced as she remains incarcerated.

Despite the mounting charges, Fortinberry’s legal team has declined to comment on the case.

The disturbing case has sparked outrage across the state, with child advocacy groups calling for stricter measures against educators involved in abuse.
